“Days Like This” original oil landscape painting by Melanie Fenton - 2022
This painting captures the view from near Greata Ranch (Fitzpatrick Winery) in Peachland. This is one of my favourite views of the lake, as Rattlesnake Island is visible. This painting brings to life the perfect mid-June greens of the grasses and rabbitbrush and dramatic sunset clouds.
Size: 24” x 36” x 1.5”
Medium: Oil paint on premier gallery wrapped canvas. Signed on the front, signed and titled on the back. Ready to hang.
About the Okanagan Landscapes:
I have created this work during a personally difficult and tiring time. I’ve tried to articulate what this journey has meant to me by journaling throughout the process. The words that came out were “my strength and vulnerability is in this work…This work is not about pushing boundaries or diving into the unknown. It is about letting my weary soul be cradled by the familiar. Letting home nurture me and carry me through the hard bits.” The Okanagan landscape is a comfort to me. I’ve only lived here two years but it just feels like home to me. It calms and reassures me. I hope I can share that with others through this show.
